THE BUENOS AIRES OF FEDERICO......

"Here, in this huge city, I have a bullfighter's reputation. These american people love the poet above all. You have no idea of how they have listened to my lecture, it has been extraordinary!. On the 24th. "Blood wedding" is going to be replaid at the immense Avenue Theatre and it has been sold out for three days...."

Letter from Federico García Lorca to his parents published by "El País"
newspaper, Madrid, 1992.
Six months in Buenos Aires awaked an anormeous attraction and profound feelings
in the poet that are reflected in messages such as:

"Buenos Aires has something alive and personal. Something full of dramatic beat, something unmistakable and original in the midst of a thousand races that attracts and fascinates travellers...."

Federico García Lorca

THE BUENOS AIRES OF JORGE LUIS......

"Buenos Aires is the other street, the one I never stepped on; it is the secret center of the blocks, the last courtyards; it is what the facades hide; it is my enemy, if I have it; it is the person to whom my poetry displeases (it also displeases me); it is the modest library in which we may enter and that we have forgotten; it is that kind of whistled "milonga" (dance) we do not recognize and that touches us; it is what was lost and what will be; it is what is beyond, the foreign, what is aside, the neighborhood that is neither yours nor mine, it is what we ignore and want".

Jorge Luis Borges
